White marble may contain naturally occurring iron deposits that can lead to discoloration if used in areas prone to wet or damp, or if exposed to harsh chemical cleaners. As this is an inherent feature of the material, Tile Club does not assume responsibility for discoloration of marble or other natural stone tiles. Do these need to be sealed if installed on a shower floor?
Yes, we do recommend using a penetrating sealant on porous materials like marble and natural stone, especially when used in a wet environment. Once your grout has fully cured, apply a coat of sealant to your marble tiles and grout. Ou can use the bead test every 6-12 months to see if it needs re-sealing - if water beads on the surface, you're all set! If it absorbs into the stone or grout, you should re-apply.
