If being used for a shower wall, what or if a sealer is needed?
This is a shell tile, which is non-porous and doesn't require sealing even in wet areas like a shower wall. It's also a low-grout tile, meaning that the only space you will need to grout are where the sheets fit together, or any small spaces in the sheets themselves. We recommend Laticrete Non-Sanded Grout (the color Bright White is the closest match). This grout base has Stonetech sealant already mixed in, so you won't need to seal the grout lines or the tile!
How do you install it?
We recommend using Laticrete 254 Platinum Ultimate One-Step Thin-Set Mortar as adhesive for Mother of Pearl tiles. Lay out tile sheets before applying the adhesive and place them side by side to see where they fit together with the smallest gaps. Experienced contractors may also choose to gently shave down the edges to reduce gaps between sheets.
While you do not need to grout between individual triangular pieces - making this a low-grout tile
- you may apply a small grout line to fill in gaps between each 11.8" x 11.8" sheet.
We strongly recommend using Laticrete Non-sanded Grout in Bright White to preserve the color and luster of these tiles. DO NOT use a Sanded Grout. Make sure that grout is fully wiped up with a soft, damp cloth before it sets to avoid grout haze.
